University of California Freshman Profiles

The links below are "Freshman Profiles" from the Universities of California. The profiles differ depending upon what each university has chosen to post.  In some cases a freshman profile was not found so the link provided below is the next best option found for that campus.

  • Universities of California - This link is established by the UC system and provides a brief profile of each UC campus.    In addition, this link is a quick glance at Campus Application Data on freshmen from Fall 2011 through 2013.
  • UCMerced   In addition, the University of California Merced provides access to the campus' Fast Facts.  Or you may want to take a Virtual Tour of the campus.

Butte College "REG 2 GO"

Butte College Reg-2-Go is a program in conjunction with Chico High that offers seniors an opportunity to register for their first semester of college through a program called Butte Reg-2-Go. By completing each part of a three-step process, students will have their first semester of college classes in place prior to graduating from high school.  Seniors who fail to complete any step of this program will delay the class registration process until after high school graduation. Whether Butte College is your first choice or just a back up plan, don't miss the Reg-2-Go program.

Community College is a great place to either get training for job placement, earn a certificate, earn an Associate Degree or complete General Education credits necessary to transfer to a 4-year college.

Butte College offers Study guides for taking the Assessment test. Check them out on their Assessment Page.

Associate Degree for Transfer

The Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T or AS-T) is a special, new degree offered at California Community Colleges. To pursue this special degree rather than a traditional AA or AS degree, you should meet with a counselor to develop an education plan that puts you on the path toward the AA-T or AS-T degree.
The guarantee itself means that students who earn an AA-T degree and meet CSU minimum eligibility requirements are guaranteed admission to a CSU, but not necessarily to a particular campus or major.  With the special degree, you may be given a GPA bump when applying to an impacted campus outside your local area or an impacted major that is deemed similar.

In addition, once at the CSU, if you are admitted and enrolled in a designated similar degree program you have the opportunity to complete your bachelor's degree with as little as 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of coursework. A counselor will help you determine which CSUs offer bachelor's degrees that correspond to your AA-T or AS-T degree. It is still important for you to apply to the schools that interest you and follow admissions deadlines to be considered.

Understanding General Education Requirements

Students who start their post high school education at a community college with the intent to transfer to a four-year college will need to understand transfer requirements.  The requirements are often referred to as General Education Requirements or GE requirements. On the Butte College website you may view and print out descriptions of the requirements for transferring to California State University or University of California
