It is with great sincerity, humility and excitement that I have been appointed Principal of the finest high school in all of California. I have spent roughly 25 years in education at almost every level in secondary education. I am a native of Fresno. I graduated from Fresno State, spent 16 years as an English Teacher, 18 years as a head boys’ basketball coach, and most recently was the Principal at Natomas High School in Sacramento.
I relish the opportunity to embark upon a dream of mine to be part of a leadership team of a unique school where the environment is student-focused, community embraced, academically driven and collaborative. Although school accountability and student achievement is certainly the prime focus in the educational community, I firmly believe in the whole student as that applies to a rounded educational experience from an intellectual, physical, emotional, and co-curricular aspect of a student’s educational experience.
I believe in being an approachable leader who is willing to listen and be flexible while being firm in my convictions that all students want to learn, succeed, and be challenged. I have always enjoyed a strong and harmonious rapport with students, teachers, parents, community members, and other academic professionals. I believe in being a visible instructional leader whose work ethic, energy, enthusiasm and commitment to school culture and climate are primary in the scope and visions of an instructional leader.
I look forward to a lengthy tenure here at Chico High School and have made Chico my home.
It is a bit odd to think that I have been working in public education for nearly half my life, but that is the case. After graduating from CSU Chico in 1983, I taught in Southern California. In 1989 my wife and I moved back to Chico to raise our family. I was able to land a job at CHS as a Math teacher and continued in that role until 2004. At that point I moved into administration.
I am committed to the progressive instructional programs available here at CHS and I am grateful for the opportunity to work with the dedicated, enthusiastic, and caring students and staff which make up the CHS community.
I count myself lucky to live in Chico and even luckier to work at Chico High. I look forward to many continued years of service here at Chico High

I am so blessed to be an Assistant Principal at Chico High. I first came to Chico as a college student at Chico State in 1989. After completing my degree, I taught in the Bay Area for seven years before my husband and I decided to return in 2001 and make Chico our home to raise our family. I have taught and been an administrator at the elementary level. I served six years as an assistant principal at the junior high and now am at the high school level! The Chico Panther community is warm and welcoming, with a top notch staff. I’m proud to represent the red and gold!

I serve students and families with last names H-P
After starting my career in education in 2002, I am happy to return to my hometown and serve the students and families here at Chico High. I graduated from Chico State with a degree in English; and, after thirteen years in the classroom, I decided to move into administration. I have a strong background in curriculum and instruction combined with student activities, and I am excited to become an integral member of the Panther Family. I am a committed educator who supports the academic, athletic, and career technical programs in place here at CHS.
I believe in empowering students to help them be successful in a rigorous and challenging environment while also promoting a spirited, fun, and happy campus. The Chico High students, faculty, and staff impress me; and, I am proud to be a part of this fantastic school. Go Panthers!
