Beginning Guitar

Guitar is a year-long course covering the basics of the instrument and an application of essential music fundamentals. Students will learn the basics of playing guitar through studying music notation, chord symbols, and peer modeling.  Students will also gain a better understanding of many different musical genres including classical, flamenco, blues, jazz, rock, and pop music.

Jazz Band

This course is a study of instrumental techniques as they relate to instrumental and contemporary jazz literature. The major topics are literature of contemporary and traditional jazz and pop styles. Other aspects of this course include participation in local concerts, regional festivals, and community activities. Concurrent enrollment in marching/symphonic band required.

Symphonic / Marching Band

Our band holds dual roles as they are the marching band in the fall for the football games, and a symphonic band for winter and spring. The band performs several concerts per year and has smaller group concerts throughout the year. Several band members are selected yearly to participate in various honor bands. The band tours the state including a grand performance at Disneyland.

Beginning Piano

This course is designed for students who wish to develop basic piano playing skills, or expand on their existing skills.  Time in class will be spent both on and off the keyboards.  While playing, students will be working individually to master the techniques of playing and to learn pieces.  There will also be time spent in group instruction on musical notation and theory.
