Teacher Spotlight

Ruben Morales - Ruben Morales is the Instrumental Music Director at Chico High School, where he teaches marching and symphonic band, jazz ensemble, piano, and guitar. He was born in Fresno, CA but raised in Woodland, CA. After graduating from Woodland High School, he attended California State University, Chico, where he majored in music. He was involved in the Chico State Wind Ensemble, Jazz X-Press, Chamber Singers, and the North State Symphony. He has also performed with great artists such as Joseph Alessi, Greg Gisbert, Dave Pietro, Paul Romaine, and Bobby Shew. Mr. Morales started his teaching career in Hollister, CA in 2013, where he was the middle school music teacher for Marguerite Maze Middle School and Rancho San Justo Middle School. In his career Ruben’s groups have consistently scored a superior rating at various festivals around California. Ruben is so excited to be at Chico high school and is ready to keep up the Chico High School Band’s tradition of excellence!
